Main Trade Screen: The main trade screen displays a summary of the trades you proposed and the trades that have been proposed to you. Each trade has a radio button before it so that you can easily select the trade and view or reject it. Not that the cancel button on all trade screens actually means "reject the trade", not cancel back to the previous screen as it does in many of the other Franchise Basketball screens.

Viewing: The only way to accept a trade is to view it first. To view a trade, select the radio button before the team whose trade you would like to view. Then click on the "View" button. You will be taken to a screen that displays the players involved in the trade, the money (if any) offered, and the salary cap for each team before and after the trade. Depending on if you are viewing a trade that you proposed or that is proposed to you, you will see a different set of buttons at the bottom of the screen. If you proposed the trade, you will see, "Cancel" and "Return". "Return" will take you back to the Main Trade Screen, cancel will cancel the trade. If the trade was proposed to you, you will see those two buttons (which do the same things) and one additional button, the "Accept". That button will accept a trade.

Trade Notification: When you first login to your team, if you have a trade proposal from another team, you should be presented with a popup box that notifies you. You will see this box each time you login until you either accept or reject the trade. Since many people do not check their trade ledger on a daily basis, this is a feature that is designed to aid in the quick responses to trade proposals.

Propose: To propose a trade to another team, you click on "Propose" from the main trade screen. You will be taken to a list of teams in the league. The only one you cannot trade with (doesn't have a radio button) is your own team. Select the team that you would like to trade with and click on "Trade" at the very bottom of the list. The last login date of the team owner and the owner's username are displayed here. This is to give you an idea of how often an owner checks their team. It is probably not a great idea to propose a trade to a team that hasn't logged in in three months. That trade will probably not be accepted or rejected in a timely manner. Once you have the team selected and click on trade, you will be taken to a list of all the players on both teams, and, (if both teams are subscribed) you will also have a text box at the bottom of each team's roster where you can enter an amount of money. Select the players from both rosters that you wish make a trade for and (if available) enter the amount of money to be included in the trade. When you are done, you may click on Propose. Note: There are several restrictions to trades that may prevent you from proposing the trade for one reason or another.

Players In A Trade: If both teams are subscribed teams, an owner can pretty much trade anyone for anyone else. This would include up to 4 players for up to 4 players. For example, you could do a 4 for 1 trade. If one or more of the teams are non-subscribed, however, there are some restrictions (due to intentional cheating in the past). Non-subscribed teams may not partake in trades that have more than a one player difference. For example, a non-subscribed team could not make a trade that was 3 players for 1. The trade would have to be at least 3 for 2. So, they could propose or accept a 3 for 2, 3 for 3 or 2 for 3 trade, but, not a 3 for 1, 1 for 3, 4 for 2 or 4 for 1 trade. Also, the salaries of non-subscriber trades must be similar or the commissioner will reject the offer. As an example, trading a $10M player for a $1M player would not be allowed (for non-subscribers) but, trading a $10M player for a $9M player would. The reason for all of these restrictions is to attempt to stop illegal trades. Sneaking two teams in the same league and attempting to siphon good players from one to the other is illegal and could be grounds for deletion from the game (and forfeiture of subscription if applicable).

Money In A Trade: Two subscribed teams may elect to include money in a trade offer. Money is designed to even up an otherwise lopsided trade. If you are the proposing team and offer money in a trade, it will be removed from your account at the time of proposal. If and when a trade is rejected or canceled, that money will be returned to your account. If the trade is accepted, it will be given to the other team. If you are requesting money from the destination team of the trade, that money will not be removed from the destination team's account until the trade is accepted. At that point, your account will be credited that amount. For various reasons, non-subscribers are not allowed to offer money in trades. If either team is non-subscribed, then trades cannot include money. Once again, this is to prevent cheating and the illegal exchange of money from one franchise to another. In addition, two subscribed owners making a deal to exchange money one direction in one league in exchange for money in the other direction in another is also not legal. In other words, multi-league deals are not permitted. You must play as though your team is isolated and if you own multiple teams in different leagues, not include them as part of the equation.

Cancel: To cancel a trade, you either have to be at the main trade screen with the trade selected, or in the view trade screen. Select the radio button for the trade and click on the "Cancel" button and the trade will be removed.

Accept: If you would like to accept a trade, you must be in the view trade screen. When there, click on "Accept". If your team (and the other team) meet the requirements to complete the trade. It will be accepted, the players and money will be moved from one team to the other. There are a number of restrictions that may prevent a trade from being accepted. The salary cap and roster requirements are just a couple. If the trade would violate the salary cap for either team, it can't be accepted until the team in question amends their roster. Also, if you don't have enough players to play a position, after the trade, either by injury or attrition, the trade will not be allowed to be completed. This also applies to minimum roster size as well. If the trade takes you over the maximum roster size or under the minimum roster size, the trade may not be completed. In any event, the system should give you an error message that gives you an idea what is wrong.

Trade Restrictions: As mentioned elsewhere in this document, there are a number of trade restrictions. The salary cap is one. Teams may not use trades to skirt the salary cap, so, if a trade violates the cap, teams will not be able to accept it. Roster requirements are another. Teams need to have a certain number of players at each position and a total number of players in order to accept a trade. If a team falls short of either, they will not be able to accept a trade until the situation is rectified. Non-subscribers also have some restrictions. Trades cannot be lopsided when non-subscribed teams are involved. Only semi-even number trades may be made (3-2, 3-3, 2-2, 2-1, etc.). Lopsided trades (4-1, 3-1, 4-2) cannot be accepted. Also, the salary of both sides of a trade need to be similar. Simgalaxy always reserves the right to reverse a trade if it is deemed unfair or lopsided. We also reserve the right to remove any player found to be cheating to obtain an upper hand in the game.

Frequently, owners will be unable to accept trades and the game will say that they would not have a valid roster even though they are getting players from the other team that play the same position. In franchise basketball you MAY invalidate the minimum roster requirements during the trade as long as a player who plays the same position is coming to your team in the trade. So for example, if Team A has 2 C's and team B has 2 C's and the two teams trade 1 C for 1 C, the game would allow the trade to go through. Problems arise sometimes with special situations. In the example above, if the teams tried to trade 2 C's for 2 C's, the computer would not allow that trade to go through, because you must have a C starter at all times. At some point during that trade, 2 for 2, both teams would (however short) be without a starting C. In this instance the trade could be broken into 2 deals. The first a 1 for 1 C deal and the second a 1 for 1 C deal. This way both teams would keep at least 1 C (to start) at all times. Another situation is when one of the C's is injured. If one of the C's is injured and cannot play, the team he is on already has an invalid lineup. Trading that player to another team (who has 2 C's) for a healthy one won't work. Although you would be making your lineup valid again, you would be invalidating the OTHER team's lineup with the trade. The game makes every attempt to disallow teams from invalidating their own lineups in any way. Only game play may invalidate a lineup. A trade COULD be made if the destination team has 3 or more valid C's. Then adding one to their roster would not invalidate their lineup and it would also fix the proposing team. So, in other words, both teams in a trade must have the valid number of players at a position and they must be healthy at the end of the trade. Also the team may not include more players at a position in the trade than the (total number of players on your team at that position) - (total number of required starters at that position). So, if I have 5 PF's on my team and 1 is a starter, I can offer 4 PF's in a trade (5-1=4) but no more than that in any one trade.

Trading Draft Picks: Subscribed owners may trade draft picks in Franchise Basketball. There are, however, a couple of limits. First, you must be subscribed at the time the pick that you are trading will be made. For example, if an owner is subscribed until day 10 of year 2010 and we are currently in year 2009, the owner may trade draft picks for the draft at the end of the 2009 season, but, may not trade draft picks which will be made at the end of the 2010 season. The 30 day renewal period does not count in the calculations. Subscriptions are always added to your current subscription, so, if you wish to be able to trade draft picks (up to 4 seasons worth) you can add subscriptions to your current one and that will extend your time and the number of seasons you may trade picks for.

No team may trade away picks over 4 seasons in the future.

Teams may not control more than 3 picks in any given round. Since there are 2 rounds in a draft, you may control up to a total of 6 picks per draft (3 picks per round, 2 rounds per draft = 6 picks). Your picks may include your own pick (the one that your team gets in each round based on where they finished the regular season) or they may not. It does not matter if your pick is one of the three or not, you get a total of up to three picks, no matter where they come from.

Trade Block: The trade block is a place where team owners can go to see what players certain teams are looking to trade. Each team may designate a certain number of players to the trade block. The number of players is limited, so, teams must make choices about who they want to put up. There is a link (above the button bar on the main trade screen) that will open the trade block window. You may sort the players on the trade block in three ways, 1) by team, 2) by position or 3) by skill level.

To add a player to your teams list of players available for trade, go to the locker room, check the player, then click on "Trade Block" you can remove a player the same way, check him, then click on "Trade Block".

Cheating: Simgalaxy has a strict policy with respect to cheating. We have several systems in place to catch and remove cheaters from the game. We try to operate a fair and fun site for everyone to compete on the same level. Owners who deliberately try to obtain an upper hand by 'illegal' means are not welcome. We reserve the right to remove any owner who is found to be cheating. Cheating is grounds for removal from the game and forfeiture of subscription funds. Cheating would include taking multiple teams and trading players back and forth between the teams. It also includes, trading for all of your 'friends' good players because he doesn't want to participate any more, is going to lose his team because his trial period is up, or any other reason they are giving up their team. Another user is going to take over these teams after an owner is done. We try to do our best to offer those owners the best teams, an intentional destruction of a franchise will not be stood for.
