Searching: To search for a player, enter all the search criteria (explained below) and click on the "search" button at the bottom of the criteria selection section. The system will search all players to find those matching the criteria you selected. It will then display the players that match in the Order and Results fashion that you specified at the bottom of the page. Results will display the player (and vitals view) along with the team they currently play for.
Position: The position checkboxes allow an owner to select the exact positions that they wish to search for. See Position Combinations for information on filtering the exact positions you would like to return.
Skill Levels: There are several drop down lists that allow you to select all maximum and minimum skill levels for your search. These levels correspond to the number of basketballs displayed in the player screen. If you want any skill level, then, select 5 for the maximum and .5 for the minimum. All skill levels for that skill will be included in the search. For example, if you wanted to find players whose Rebounding was between 3 and 4 basketballs. You would set all other skills to Max: 5 and Min: .5, and Rebounding to Max:4 and Min:3. This would only return those players with the rebounding between 3 and 4 inclusive.
Age: You may also specify an age range for the players to include in your search. The range is selected similar to the Skill Levels. There is a maximum age and a minimum age. Set those two values to the range you wish to include in your search.
Salary: Like both Age and Skill Levels, salary is a range of values. You can specify a salary range to include in your search. All you have to do is specify the maximum salary to include in the search and the minimum salary to include in the search.
Name: If you know the first and/or last name of a player you are looking for you may specify it in the first or last name fields. Names are not case sensitive. Be warned, however, the game search is very specific. You should probably only use it when looking for a specific player and even then, not select any of the other criteria.
Free Agents Only: This checkbox is to specify that you are only interested in seeing players who are free agents. Checking this box will not show any players who are on teams. Only the free agent pool will be searched.
Position Combination: Since Franchise Basketball supports multi-position players, the search function provides owners with a method to search for those players specifically. There are three options under position combinations that you may select. The first is to select players who play ALL of the selected positions. This will only return players who play each of the positions you selected. Therefore, if you selected C and PF, the search will not return players who play only C. It will, however, return a player who plays C, PF and SF. The second option is to select players who play ANY of the selected positions. Selecting C and PF and choosing this would return all players who play C, all players who play PF, all players who play both, and it would also pick players who played additional positions with the C and PF position. Finally, the third option is to select players who ONLY play the combination of chosen positions. So, picking C and PF would only return C/PF players, not C/PF/SF or C players.
Search Order: This radio button either organizes the players returned from worst to best (Ascending) or from best to worst (Descending). This only organizes results it does not effect who is returned from the search.
List Results: This specifies how many results an owner would like to see. It ranges from 5 to 30 results. It is important to note, especially with less specific searches that the total players displayed may not be all of the players returned from the search. In other words, if 50 players match your criteria, you may see the first 5 (if you have list results set to 5). Likewise, if you have fewer than the list results number of players returned from the search, you won't see the number specified, you will only see those returned.
