Description: The 2-1-2 Zone defense is a variation of the 2-3 Zone, where one player steps forward to the middle of the key. The 2-1-2 offers better outside coverage than does the 2-3, but opens itself up to front court scoring (SF, PF, C)

Shooting: As in the 1-2-2 Zone, the Center (C) and Power Forward (PF) will shoot less as the defense plugs up the lane. The Point Guard (PG), Shooting Guard (SG) and Small Forward (SF) will all increase their shooting to try to soften the defense.
